Designing a poster in photoshop

Grunge Poster built in Photoshop

The main purpose of this project was to brush up on my photoshop skills. I wanted to create a very dark poster that would appeal to the young market. I first searched for a stock image on istock I found a great series of pictures of a man dancing in a hooded top and jeans.

To create the poster I used some grunge brushes with a mixture of the erase tool and the clone stamp tool to break apart his hands and feet to give the feeling of motion. I also used this brush for the black background. For the light effect I used another set of brushes from a German designer that I stumbled upon one day. To keep in fitting with the grungy look of the rest of the poster I used a font called "got heroin?" for the small amount of text I added to the poster.
